Polyvinyl Alcohol Grade 25-88
PVOH2588 is a medium-viscosity (25 cps), partially hydrolyzed (88%) water-soluble polymer that dissolves in warm or room-temperature water. Equivalent to Elvanol® 52-22, Poval 26-88, Selvol 523, and PVA-217, this polymer is widely used in coatings, adhesives, and films. It is especially valued for its higher binding capacity compared to synthetic latex and starch, making it ideal for spiral wound tubes, coated paper, linerboard, and specialty water-soluble films. PVOH2588 also adds strength to recycled boards and enhances oil and grease resistance.
Additional applications include stabilizing vinyl acetate, polystyrene, and polyvinyl chloride emulsions, re-moisturizing adhesives, temporary binders for ceramics, photosensitive coatings, and as a soil anti-redeposition agent. It is suitable for use in textile coatings and joint compounds.
